Norbert
Singer, here presiding over the Porsche pit at Petit LeMans and (right)
watching telemetry data on McNish's qualifying laps. McNish is sitting
on the pit wall behind him.
In the
calm
before battle at the FIA GT race at Sebring, 1997, Porsche's GT1 is
shown
above with a sexy body sensuously covering its high-technology
secrets.
But perhaps its best secret can be seen in the enhanced background of
the
close-up shot (right) - Norbert Singer updating race data on his laptop
computer! (or maybe he is responding to fan club e-mail?)
Singer's GT-1s won that race, and after he tweaked
them some more with carbon fibre tubs and such, they won again at
LeMans
- both 1st and 2nd place. And then at Petit LeMans, his GT-1 98
was
nearly two laps ahead when a freak wreck put them out.
On these pages are biographical articles, one from the Porsche "factory" magazine, Christophorus, and one from European Car, an article about his workshop think-tank at Weissach, plus data from various sources about the fantastic race cars he has designed over the years. The growing list of fans help show the appreciation for his brilliant knack at keeping Porsche in front.
Singer Fans are VIPs!
Did you notice the
names
on the main club page? And there are many Singer Fan Club members who
cannot
be listed because they work for Porsche competitors!
And here's Kerry Morse, Sport
Editor of
European Car magazine, showing his appreciation for the
giant of sports car racing. Kerry was also kind enough to send us
his full, unedited interview of Norbert Singer, which you'll enjoy
at
this link. Women's GT
Series
Champion, Cindy Lux and Gill Campbell, of Campbell Productions, joined
at Daytona, and world-famous autosport photographer (credited with
quite
a few sharp shots of Singer such as
here)
John Brooks, shows off his "Singer Pose."
Singer Fans Can Send their Regards!
Herr Singer checks this page from time to time, when he is really short of things to do, I suppose. (He says it is because he still can't believe it!) So we are collecting short notes from fans about how they came to appreciate the cars and his work. They are posted here. If you have any comments to add, or suggestions for the web pages, let me know.
To join the Norbert Singer Fan Club, send your e-mail address using the link below, and add your suggestions for how such a cyber-club could honor Singer. Obviously the possibilities increase with the size of the club.
And more!
Keeping up with Singer race news, learning neat
background
stuff about Porsche race car development, supporting Singer, meeting
notables
and cavorting with the best! Club members Kurt Jones and Alan Thacker
get
their photos and LeMans posters signed by The Man Himself while
club member Cynthia discusses race strategy with Singer's driver,
LeMans
winner and Petit LeMans pole-sitter, Allan
McNish and, later, shares space with one of Singer's other favorite
drivers,
the late Bob Wollek, considered perhaps the greatest long-distance
driver
in the world. Wollek had been on the LeMans podium five times.
